Craps Rules: Know Them

By land or by internet, you use the same rules for craps and you want to win at craps. It's not too hard to learn them, and this popular game is a great source of entertainment.

A Run-through of Craps Rules

The Come Out roll is a shooter's first roll. Making a Pass Line Bet on the Come Out roll simply involves laying down your chips in the Pass Line area. You win if 7 or 11, a natural, is rolled by the shooter. However, 12, 3 and 2 are losing numbers. The more complex situation is where the shooter rolls a 10, 9, 8, 6, 5, or 4, referred to as point numbers, in which case the number has to be rolled again, then followed by a 7, in order for your bet to be won. You need to understand the Pass Line to understand craps. There's also an opposite to the Pass Line - the Don't Pass. With the Don't Pass, 12's are ties. Once again, the best way to get the rules of craps down is to play the game.

Other Types of Craps Bets

The Come Bet

Following a Come Out roll, you can make Come Bets, and they're basically like Pass Line bets.

The Don't Come Bet

Like a Don't Pass, but, like the Come Bet, is played after a Come Out roll.

The Odds B et

All four of the previously-mentioned bets- Pass/Don't Pass, Come/Don't Come- can be played with Odds Bets. When used with Come and Pass Line bets, Odds bets are on the chances of the shooter getting his/her point number before getting a 7. The opposite is true with Don't Pass/Don't Come bets- you're wagering that 7 will be rolled before the point number. Payouts vary with the shooter's point number, but Odds are still the safest bets.
